Shoppers at Louth’s Co-op Supermarket in Northgate are now far more aware of what the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway has to offer, thanks to a small group of dedicated Society members.
Rod Morris and his team recently organised a LWR publicity roadshow centred around a display stand in the store’s foyer where they handed out hundreds of leaflets advertising our forthcoming events and information about our plans to extend the line. The roadshow included a free draw for a family ticket and the lucky winner was Judy Gilliatt from Fotherby, who is pictured here after collecting her prize.
Judy’s house just happens to back onto the Grimsby to Louth railway trackbed and she promised if we manage to extend the line to Fotherby in her lifetime she would provide teas for all the volunteers!
Although it has been nearly 50 years since Louth lost its train service Rod said a number of people he spoke to had fond memories of the East Lincolnshire Line and they all wished us well in our efforts to bring the railway back to the town.
We are grateful Rod and his team for giving their time to help spread the word about our railway and to Louth Co-op for allowing us to their store.
